This summer we spoke to Alexia!
Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Alexia Desile and I live in Kent. I am originally from France and I moved to the UK 8 years ago. I love to work hard and play even harder and spend most of my free time on the bike. I am very much of an adrenaline junky and l love being outdoors. I have been horse riding since a young age, love climbing, surfing, paddleboarding, snowboarding and recently started kitesurfing. Not to forget my furry companion, Poppy who is always following me on my adventures.
How and when did you get into riding?
I started my MTB journey in 2019 following a bit of a low time in my personal life. I loved the community and meeting new people with the same interest. It straight away felt like love at first sight between me and my bike ahaha. I then entered my first race in 2020 and loved it so much that I have been racing ever since.
What are the best and worst things about riding?
MTB is the best way to clear your mind, enjoy the nature and the outdoors, get physical exercise but also meet like minded people and make friends. It is hard to find bad things about riding and the only one thing that comes to mind is THIEVES. Unfortunately the level of bikes stolen is increasing by the year and it is very difficult to enjoy your sport when you are constantly worrying about getting your bike stolen.
Tell us about your most memorable ride to date?
My best memory has to be the adventure I had in the alps in 2022. I had been racing the Ebike world tour which took me on some incredible trail in the heart of the mountains and on some of the highest peaks.
What's the best piece of riding advice you've ever been given?
To be relaxed in my position and allow the bike to move under me instead. Look ahead is also a great advise lol.
What do you bring with you on every ride?
My best riding buddy, Poppy the trail Dog! I also bring a multi tool ... Just in case.
How do you keep your bikes secure at home and on the go? Share your best tips to help others keep their bikes safe.
I used to have a bike rack to transport my bikes and the Litelok Go Flexi was perfect to secure the bikes to the bike rack. I am now lucky enough to have a van so I don't worry as much about security on the go as I had extra locks fitted on the van. At home I use the Litelok Core Plus and chains to keep the bikes safe.
When someone asks what kit you recommend, you say?
I say Litelok Core Plus because of the diamond certification.
What's on your riding bucket list?
I would love to experience Heli Biking in Canada or maybe New Zealand.
