LITELOK X1 Saves E-Scooter in Aarhus #42

Sebastian reached out to us to share his experience of an attempted theft of his e-scooter in Aarhus, Denmark. Thanks to the LITELOK X1, his ride was saved from bike thieves.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for a great product."

"About a year ago I bought a Litelok X1 because my previous lock had been broken by thieves and my e-scooter stolen. Since the purchase of the new lock I have had two attempts to steal my new e-scooter, one time with cutters, which was a spectacular failure, and this second time with an angle grinder. The thieves got further than last time, but it was still a failure." Sebastian went on to mention.

On the evening of September 25th, between 8:00 and 9:00 PM, Sebastian avoided losing his e-scooter in the communal basement of his apartment building. Despite the basement being locked and only accessible to residents, this incident left him questioning the security of the area.

That night, as Sebastian was heading to work around 9:00 PM, he noticed an odd, metallic smell when he entered the basement. It was clear that an angle grinder had been used recently to attempt breaking through the lock on his scooter. His e-scooter, valued at approximately £600, had been securely locked to a metal rail bolted to the wall using the X1 LITELOK. Though he hadn’t used any additional locks, the X1 proved resilient enough to prevent the theft.

"The thieves tried in two locations, but only succeeded in passing the rubber. When they tried the metal, their angle grinder disc splintered and left shards everywhere as evidence."

Fortunately, the thieves didn’t succeed, but the experience has served as a reminder of how crucial strong security measures are, especially in shared spaces. Sebastian’s story is a testament to the importance of investing in high-quality locks like the LITELOK X1.

Sebastian later decided to upgrade to the LITELOK X3, which offers greater resistance against angle grinders.
