LITELOK X1 Saves E-Scooter in Switzerland #110

On the night of January 30th, Haydn locked his electric scooter at Coppet Gare, Switzerland, expecting a normal evening commute. What he didn’t know was that over the next several hours, thieves would make repeated attempts to steal it, and fail.

Haydn’s scooter, worth around 700 CHF, was secured at the local train station using only a Litelok X1, locked to an aluminium bike rack. Between 8pm and 12am, thieves targeted the lock with determination.

Train stations are among the highest-risk locations for bike and e-scooter theft. They combine long unattended periods, predictable schedules, and a constant flow of people, giving thieves both time and anonymity. Vehicles left overnight or for several hours, as in Haydn’s case, are particularly vulnerable.

“I just wanted to let you know that my Litelok X1 saved my e-scooter Friday night at my local train station as thieves attempted to bolt cut through the lock."

The attempted theft at Coppet Gare wasn’t opportunistic, it was persistent. The would be thieves didn’t just try once and walk away. They returned repeatedly, applying force with bolt cutters multiple times, then escalating to leveraging and bending attacks using a metal seat post and the aluminium structure the scooter was locked to.

Their first approach was brute force.

“The thieves tried to use bolt cutters around 5 times I think I counted on the lock…”

When that failed, they escalated.

“…and then after minimal success they took a seat post from a nearby bike and tried to bend the lock and the aluminium I had locked it to.”

Even attacking both the lock and the aluminium frame didn’t work.

“This also did not work and so they must have stopped after this.”

LITELOK X1 has a unique anti-rotation feature which protects against twisting attacks and single cuts.

The Litelok X1 proved once again that when thieves meet serious resistance, they move on, and your ride stays right where you left it.

For commuters relying on train stations, overnight parking, or high-risk public locations, the LITELOK X offers the kind of visible, proven resistance that makes the difference between coming back to a ride, or an empty space.
