LITELOK X1 Saves BMW Motorcycle in Watford #105

Motorcycle theft is an ever-present concern for riders, and for John, this threat became all too real. Back in June, John experienced an attempted theft of his BMW S1000XR in Watford at 3am on the 5th. With the bike valued at £6,000.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. In fact, it marked the third attempt by thieves to steal John’s motorcycle, a clear sign that his bike had been deliberately targeted.

"This was the third targeted theft attempt by the same gang of thieves. I stepped up my security up in fear that they would return after the previous attempt by buying the X1."

John’s BMW S1000XR was parked on the street outside his home. Although it wasn’t locked to a fixed object, it was also equipped with an alarmed disc lock. However, the persistence of the thieves made it clear that stronger protection was necessary.

"It was not locked to anything, parked in the street, and secured with an additional alarmed disc lock."

The attempted theft quickly became far more serious than property crime. As the thieves tried to take the bike directly from outside John’s home, the situation turned dangerous.

"The thieves threatened to kill me as they tried to steal my motorbike from in front of my door."

Despite the intimidation and the tools, they brought with them, the thieves were unable to defeat the LITELOK X1.

Armed with an angle grinder, the gang attempted to cut through the X1. However, their efforts failed and ultimately cost them the opportunity to steal the bike.

"Ultimately they were defeated by the X1 after trying to cut it with an angle grinder and had to give up and flee."

Unable to take the motorcycle, the thieves lashed out in frustration before escaping.

"This didn’t stop them from doing £1000 of damage to my bike though as they damaged the front discs, broke the steering lock and deliberately slashed the side wall of my front tyre when they were thwarted."

While the damage to the BMW S1000XR was significant, the outcome could have been far worse. Thanks to the X1, the bike was not stolen, preventing a total loss and stopping the thieves from succeeding.

John’s story is a stark reminder of how determined modern motorcycle thieves can be, and how essential serious security is when your bike is being actively targeted.
